RotaFlow’s optional Work Hours & Pay settings connect your Day and Night shifts to working times, unpaid breaks and pay rules. Scheduled hours come from your rota; pay totals are estimates, not payslips.
A four-day work block tells you when you are working. It does not, by itself, tell you how many paid hours it contains. Start and finish times, unpaid breaks and different rates can change the total. Work Hours & Pay adds that context without replacing the Day / Night / Off pattern you already use.
Start with the hours you actually schedule
Open Work Hours & Pay for the schedule you want to configure. Set the working times for Day and Night shifts and add any unpaid break. The underlying rotation stays the same: D still means Day, N means Night and O means Off.
For an overnight shift, an end time earlier than the start time continues into the following day. Check the dates as well as the clock times. A shift beginning on Monday night may finish on Tuesday morning.
Add the right rate and pay period
Save the currency, base hourly rate and pay cycle for that schedule. Keep separate jobs in separate profiles so a rate for one rota is not mistaken for the rate for another.
Pro adds pay-period forecasts and advanced rules, including different Day and Night rates, premiums, weekend and public-holiday multipliers, overtime rules and date-specific working-time overrides. Match those settings to your actual agreement rather than assuming a default applies.
Keep scheduled pay and overtime distinct
Scheduled pay describes work projected from the rota and configured rules. An overtime entry records extra work for a particular date. Review both when a shift changes, and check that the same extra time has not been counted twice.
Treat all earnings figures as estimated gross amounts. They are not take-home pay, a tax calculation or a guarantee of what your employer will pay. Payroll adjustments, deductions and workplace-specific rules can produce a different result.
Check one real period before planning ahead
Compare a known shift, an overnight shift and a pay-period boundary with your own records. Then check a swap or special day and confirm the following normal shift still uses the intended settings.
Your schedule and optional work settings are local-first. Enabling iCloud can sync supported schedule settings across your Apple devices. Do not enter confidential employer information into a shared note or export unless you intend to share it.

Does RotaFlow calculate net pay?
No. The advertised pay feature provides estimated gross pay from your saved hours, rates and rules. It is not payroll software or a tax service.
Do I have to add working times?
No. Work Hours & Pay is optional. You can continue planning with Day, Night and Off without configuring rates.
Are all pay features free?
Basic work-time configuration and premium pay tools are different capabilities. Pay-period forecasts and advanced pay rules require Pro. Check the comparison page for the distinction.
