Begin with an accurate rota
Check your pattern, anchor date and any confirmed swaps before comparing leave windows. A recommendation built on the wrong workdays can make a break look better than it really is.
Include existing Vacation records and review the allowance and carryover you have entered. The app’s balance is a planning record; your employer’s approved leave record remains authoritative.
Compare leave used with time away
Look at the rest block before a leave window, the scheduled workdays inside it and the rest block after it. That context is more useful than simply counting the dates selected on a calendar.
In a fixed 4 on / 4 off example, taking the four workdays between two four-day rest blocks as leave can create 12 consecutive dates without a scheduled workday. This arithmetic example assumes those four shifts are eligible for approved leave.
Review options before applying them

Applying a PTO recommendation opens the same reviewed special-day workflow. Selected dates are added to your personal rota only after you check and confirm them; this does not request or obtain employer approval, reserve travel or change a workplace scheduling system.
Count recovery and practical constraints too
A long calendar gap can begin immediately after a final Night shift. Think about travel, handovers and recovery before treating every date as fully usable time away.
